AMAZON & BATHING APE 2012 ‘AMAZON.CO.JP’ TEE

Amazon and A Bathing Ape have come together to promote the retailer’s Japanese arm of useful goods. Represented as the “Amazon.co.jp” T-shirt, signature elements, albeit nuanced, can be seen on the front and back of the predominantly white tee. The collaborative shirt can be purchased online for ¥6,090 JPY (approximately $76 USD).

BAPE & TRANSFORMERS PRIME CAPSULE COLLECTION

In its latest collaborative project, Bape has teamed up with Transformers Prime, the American computer-animated television series based on the Transformers toy franchise by Hasbro. Bape fused its own logos and characters with the icons of the Decepticons and Autobots robots from the series in the 6 piece t-shirt collection.

Look out for a release of the t-shirt at Bape stores on October 27, 2012.

AAPE BY BATHING APE HARAJUKU STORE OPENING

A Bathing Ape has opened its first AAPE storefront in Tokyo, Japan. A less expensive, younger alternative to its flagship BAPE brand, the AAPE label has now moved into its new Harajuku home with a collection of freshly introduced Spring/Summer 2012 pieces. The opening was well-attended and commemorated with limited edition items including caps, iPhone cases, flashlights, umbrellas and AAPE-shaped macaroons.

I really like the spaciousness of the store, it gives a good overview off the colour coordinated collection in a white clean space. It’s a good set up for people to come in, look around, leave or stay and check it out.

AAPE by BATHING APE SPRING/SUMMER 2012 COLLECTION LOOKBOOK

Today Japanese brand Bape presents the official Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Lookbook of their newly introduced AAPE by A Bathing Ape line. While clearly targeted at a younger consumer, the collection consists mainly of t-shirts, hoodies, caps, pants, a little bit of outerwear and of course some accessories. The details are pretty nice, but what bothers us the most is the AAPE name and many times overly branded character of some of the pieces. But that might actually exactly be what the AAPE consumer is looking for.
