The GIP Store visited by highsnobiety
In 2011 Japanese brand WTAPS opened its new flagship store in Shibuya, Tokyo. The GIP (Guerilla The Incubation Period) Store closely follows the base principles of the brand. The interior is heavily military inspired, both on the interior and the exterior. Next to WTAPS, the store also carries the other collection by creative director Tetsu Nishiyama, entitled FORTY PERCENTS AGAINST RIGHTS. While WTAPS has been hanging in HOODS stores next to Neighborhood, the GIP store for the first time 100% expresses the vision of the brand. Beautiful details include custom furniture, as well as GIP store bikes and scooters parked in front of the shop.

Honeyee presents WTAPS 2013 Spring/Summer “Philosophy” Editorial with Yosuke Kubozuka
Japanese actor Yosuke Kubozuka stars in “Philosophy,” honeyee‘s new editorial spread for WTAPS‘ Spring/Summer 2013 collection. A survey, perhaps, of Tetsu Nishiyama‘s own design ethos, this season’s looks are a familiar mix of military, prep and work-inspired designs — washed cotton jungle shirts, polos, graphic tees and plenty of chambray. Browse the pictures and look for WTAPS’ Spring/Summer 2013 wares now at select stockists worldwide.

Behind The Tee with Tetsu “Tet” Nishiyama of WTAPS
Obscura Magazine presents its latest episode of Obscuravision. In this episode, they join designer Tetsu “Tet” Nishiyama of WTAPS for a day, tracking his daily routine while gaining a deeper insight into some of his personal thoughts and the various philosophies that shape his work and life. A rare look into the life, thoughts and working environment of one of Ura-harajuku’s most influential figures, and an individual that has maintained his design credibility for the past 20 years in the ever-changing landscape.
BTT: INTERVIEW WITH TETSU NISHIYAMA of WTAPS
I wonder how you came to name brand WTAPS and what does it mean?
Before WTAPS there was FPAR (FORTY PERCENTS AGAINST RIGHTS), my original product. FPAR was not only focused on apparel though, but on other creativities as well. At some point I felt like I want to concentrate more on apparel and fashion. So, I called the 2nd brand WTAPS. This is a military term, as you may know, and it means “the second shot always finishes it”. “W” means “twice”. So, WTAPS was my 2nd challenge.

UNDEFEATED & WTAPS 2012 FALL/WINTER CAPSULE COLLECTION ANNOUNCEMENT
The West Coast crew from Undefeated has been hard at work lately churning out — not only their in-house seasons — but also a range of collaborations. Co-founders Eddie Cruz and James Bond alongside KB Lee seem to have taken a decidedly Japanese route as of late working with BAPE most recently. Today brings news that Undefeated has turned to WTAPS for an upcoming collaborative venture. While things are just speculation at this point as to when the project will be released, what it will take shape like, and if it will be a capsule or long-running collaboration, don’t be surprised to see various military influences play a role. Stay tuned…
WTAPS TIGER CAMMO TEE
The seemingly forever popular tiger camo makes an appearance as part of a small collection from WTAPS. The brand has often made great use of this camo, and once again it is well played by the Japanese brand.
Should you choose to do so, you can get fitted in tiger camo from top to bottom thanks to the M-65 jacket, Jungle pants, and matching tee. Each of these items are now available at Union Los Angeles.
HOODS BEIJING STORE OPENING TEE

To help set things off proper, WTAPS and Neighborhood will be releasing a nice little collection to be sold exclusively at the new shop. Some tees, jackets and some of that world renowned Neighborhood denim will all be available in the store come opening day.
